Not Your Grandma’s Wallpaper
When someone mentions wallpaper, you may begin to have flashbacks of your grandmother’s jarring floral wallpaper which covered just about every wall in her home. Check out Our Favorite Spaces to Use Wallpaper. And while our grandmothers are lovely women, we are thankful that wallpaper trends have evolved from what they used to be in the 60s and 70s. These days, we are enamored with wallpapers of a different kind from those of years past.
We love to incorporate wallpapers with neutral palettes, visually interesting designs, and we sometimes even lean a bit whimsical depending on the space where the wallpaper is going. Here are some of our favorite places to use wallpaper and how we have incorporated it into our past projects!
Balanced Bedrooms

A great place to add wallpaper is on an accent wall in a bedroom. At this Winter Park home, the clients already had a recessed arch detail on the wall behind the bed in the primary bedroom. When we did our initial walkthrough of the space, we just knew that this would be the perfect place for an accent wallpaper!
While we wanted to add extra visual interest, we still wanted to maintain a soothing color palette in this bedroom. This Serena & Lily Granada wallpaper in a soft grey color was the perfect fit for this space. We love how it adds an accent to this nook. While still allowing the bedside sconces to have their own feature moment. When adding wallpaper to your bedroom, be sure to make a selection that not only features a beautiful pattern. But that it also matches the atmosphere of the rest of the room.
Go Bold in Small Spaces

One of our favorite places to go bold with wallpaper is in small spaces such as bathrooms. While we enjoy using clean, neutral palettes in the communal spaces of our homes. We love adding in some whimsy by using eye-catching wallpaper in smaller spaces. We chose this nautical mermaid wallpaper from Hygge & West when designing a pool bath for our clients in Winter Park. Since this bathroom will be used by friends and family who are having a blast around the pool deck. We wanted to carry that same fun-filled mood into this space. We finished the look off with elements such as a blue Serena & Lily mirror and we couldn’t be happier with the end result!

In this Maitland home’s powder bath, we chose a moody Hygge & West wallpaper to make a bold statement. The rest of this home featured vibrant gold, black, and even pink accents which were a reflection of our client’s vibrant and bubbly personality. We love how this statement wallpaper ties right in with the aesthetic of the rest of the home. It gives this small space lots of extra flair! Don’t be afraid to experiment with bold pattern and color on the wallpaper in your small spaces. Statement wallpaper has the unique power of making an otherwise overlooked room into a feature element of your home!
